Never leave the tree - Short story
Do you see that large beautiful tree?
It stands so strong and firm in its soil. Juicy, Round, delicious fruit hangs onto every branch and dangles there next to the soft green leafs surrounding the trunk to clothe it.
Every other tree would do anything to have as much life as this one.
Evil hates successful happy things and lingers by.
Do you see the dark forgettable ground just below this wonder?
Dirt and rocks clothe it to make it rough and patchy.
The struggling fruit trying to keep hold of the skinny branch, looks down upon the ground. The ground starts to call at the fruit telling it to let go and it can be free to lay safely with the ground, with no struggle. This offer appeals to the fruit, holding on is much to hard. So the gullible fruit falls to the ground , now not connected in any way to the tree.
Other dangling fruit start to follow, till there is no more fruit left to see.
The ground calls at the leafs next and asks them "Why are you soft and green?!"
The leafs are are shocked. Why are they green they wonder ... thats just how the tree made them, but the leafs don't want to be soft and green anymore. So they all start to crisp and turn brown. Now they are who they want to be and not what the tree wants.
A harsh wind hits the tree and blows the crispy brown leafs all over the ground, joining the fruit leaving the tree naked with nothing but empty branches.
An observing cloud tsks at the foolish fruit and leafs.
"Why have you left the only thing that has done nothing but keep you safe and alive?
And for what? The dirty rough ground?!?.
It can not satisfy you and keep you healthy the way the tree can.
Leafs, you will shrivel and die and be blown away for your rebellion.
Fruit, you will spoil and be rotten and be fed to the birds for your lack of trust and faith.
Both of you are stupid and foolish to actually think you could be happy and live forever with the ground, and now you are being punished for leaving your rightful home!"
EPH 6:11
